First, I would like to apologize for not bring active lately. A lot has gone on the past two years (some good, some bad, some great, some horrible) but things are looking more stable now.
I am not intending on abandoning this site – in fact, the opposite. I am looking to work on this site and expand it. If you have suggestions, please, feel free to comment. All comments are viewed (even if they aren’t approved). I have a lot of ideas in my mind – they just take time and money.
It came to our attention yesterday that our contact form was broken – it was not including your email address. This has been fixed. If you’ve contacted us over the past 48 hours feel free to re-contact us using the contact form or you can send us a message though our Facebook page.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
It has come to my attention that a lot of newspapers, media outlets, estate sales, etc.. are trying to sell of old pictures and if they can’t they are being destroyed. It is extremely sad to see these pieces of history being destroyed and this history needs to be preserved for future generations to see and enjoy.
If you have pictures of old dog actors or even classic dog photos that you are going to throw away please use the contact form and let me know. Most likely I will not be able to pay for them but I am offering a home with them – my long term goal is to set something up to promote the classic look of dogs as well as what dog actors (and other animal actors) have done for us as well as the movie industry. I will consider any pictures of any canine (wolves, coyotes, jackals, dingoes, etc.) and the older the better.
It is my intention to help preserve these photos in the best conditions possible – I have already spent hundreds of dollars on special storage and plan to spend even more on custom (museum quality) frames to display them.
Also, if you have old pictures that you are keeping but are willing to scan them and send them to me, please also use the contact form. I may be interested in scans, too.
I am also interested in old films (8mm (silent, and “talkies”), Super8, 16mm, 32mm) of dogs. I am currently investing in the equipment to help preserve them – as well as protective storage.
Please remember – DogActors.com is not (nor do I intend to impersonate) a 501(c)(3) organization – this means that any donation is not tax deductible. I am also not asking for financial donations; if you wish to donate money please donate it to a local animal shelter, rescue, or one of our supported organizations.
It’s been quiet on the dog acting front the past couple of months (if you see something I’ve missed feel free to contact me using the contact us link at the top of this page or on our forums) I’ve had the time to set up other venues.
I’ve always been a supporter of service dogs so I’ve launched two new service dog sites:
- Florida Service Dogs.com a service dog community primarily for people in Florida (but anyone is welcome) for teams and trainers to plan get togethers and talk about service dog related topics.
- Service Dog Friendly a review site for service dog teams (and where applicable, trainers) to review establishments (etc.) on how they are towards service dogs. The site is simple now (use a contact form to submit a review) but I do plan on eventually having a site similar to Yelp.
Feel free to check out the two new sites!
